TRI TRA BEACH
Location: Take the road up the hill at the southern end of Patong Beach and follow it 3 km

The tsunami caused great damage to Tri Tra beach with many uprooted trees and for several months nothing was done here.
But since then the Thai people have worked hard to clean up the beach and it now look nicer than ever!
When driving from Patong the first you will see is a sign to Tri Trang Beach Resort. You can either chose to drive down to the beach from here or continue to the end of the road, past Merlin Beach Resort.
The main road ends at the foot of a small hill where a narrow steep road continue up the hill to Paradise Beach.
Park your bike next to the hill and cross the road where a popular restaurant serve great but little bit expensive Thai food.
Walk down to the picturesque beach fringed with casuarina and palm trees, rent a sunbed and relax on a sparsely populated beach in stark contrast to the crowded Patong Beach which is visible in the distance.
Unfortunately, it's not so good for swimming because most of the bay is very shallow with small corals scattered about. Check the tide table at www.phuketgazette.net. When I stay here swimming is not an option for me, unlike some other people who don't mind to go for a swim in the shallow and sometimes smelly water.
The best part for swimming is near Tri Trang Beach Resort located at the end of the beach closest to Patong.
Facing north, the beach don't have direct sunlight, a fact some people love and others hate.
