Patong have a restaurant on every corner, either in adjacent to accommodation or standalone restaurants. In addition there are many small food stalls selling Thai food. Where there are people you will find food for sale.
Patong is a tourist town with French, Italian, Scandinavian, Russian, Japanese, Indian, Korean, Chinese and German restaurants to name a few. There are especially many Italian restaurants around town.
Some of this restaurants have a Thai chef and they are not always so good trained. A French chef will most likely make better French food then a Thai chef.
One experience from a small Norwegian restaurant in Kata was not so good. They had a new Thai chef and she made very good Thai food but didn't know so much about Norwegian food.
A newcomer to Patong Beach is
The Pizza Company (Oct 2003), located in Bangla Road opposite Rock Hard. For first time in recent history we have a place that can make a fairly good pizza.
No doubt the best pizza in Patong.
And they deliver too, call 1112. Medium size cost 199 - 229 baht, large 299 - 339 baht.
Available are also Chicken Wings, Lasagna and Pasta. Open 24 hours.
Since The Pizza Company stopped selling small size pizza I have to throw half of it in the garbage when ordering medium size.
Else of course there is a McDonalds located on the beach road near Ban Thai Beach Resort. Nearby are also Starbucks. Since I don't like McDonalds I can't tell exactly price for a Big Mac, but I think it's 69 baht.
Thai food is widely available, every restaurant should have it on their menu. But expect to pay much more in a western than at a Thai restaurant. For example so cost fried rice with shrimp 30 baht at our local Thai restaurant, but at one beach road restaurant, fried rice with chicken cost between 150 and 300 baht + tax!
You can say that you pay for the live band, nicer environment and eating in a tourist area.
Phuket is famous for it's seafood. Don't take my word for it, but with all the seafood on display I am sure it must be some truth to it.
Street food is a chapter of their own. Unlike at home we don't have to walk a meter to buy our dinner. Thai food vendors will come to our doorsteps all day long selling all sorts of food. And in addition there is always a Thai restaurant a short walk away.
Picture to the right is a food stall attached to a motorbike.
Go to www.phuket.com for a detailed description of what food vendors are selling.
Many people loves Thailand for it's tasty and spicy food and can't wait to eat it again on their next holiday to Thailand.
Service are the best in the world. One time we had a meal at a open air restaurant and when it began to rain heavy one of the staff rushed to the rescue with a umbrella while him self got drained in water. Only in Thailand!
