Phuket Zoo

Phuket Zoo is a small zoo located near the north end of Chalong Bay. Perfect for families and have tigers, elephants, monkeys, crocodiles, camels, many different birds in all sizes, a small aquarium, butterfly garden and so on.

Best part of the zoo is the three shows they have several times daily. It's little bit like a circus where Elephants, Monkeys and Crocodiles are trained to do many different tricks for tourists.

My favorite is clearly the Elephant show with Monkey show as the second best and to the last come a boring Crocodile show.


Elephant show are three times daily at 10.30 AM, 1.30 PM and 4 PM.

Like all shows they take place in a small arena inside a stadium where you in safety can look at it.

Some of the things you will see are elephants taking their turn to hit a football hoping to outmaneuver the keeper to score a goal. Others is a balancing act standing on 2 feet, walking over four people laying on the ground and much more.
At the end of the show all of the elephants will be putting on a dance show.

After the show people of all ages can ride on the elephants or feed them bananas.




Monkey show take place at 9 AM, 12 AM, 2.30 PM and 4.45 PM.

Not my favorite show, but it's okay. With a monkey lifting weights and playing basketball. A Orangutan bicycle around the arena while waving to people. Another monkey solve mathematical equations, where the audience can suggest numbers for the monkey to solve. At the end a volunteer will be selected to sit on a chair where the hands will be tied. Then one of the monkeys will untie it to the applause of the audience.




Crocodile show take place at 9.30 AM, 12.45 PM, 3.15 PM and 5.30 PM.

This show is boring. Better to use the time looking around or relax at a restaurant. The reason I think it's boring is because it looks like the crocodiles are hypnotized not to move until on a signal where the performers head is not longer inside the mouth of the crocodile. To be honest there are very little action in this show.

Not far from the entrance is a live Tiger, although he did more or less sleep when we was there. But there was a baby tiger who everyone loved to feed while the staff took pictures, a memory for a life time.

Entrance to the aquarium is the mouth of a crocodile, original. Have many species found in the water of Thailand, it's small but worth a visit. Butterfly Garden and Orchid Garden are to be found near Monkey Show.


Last Comments:
Ticket cost 500 baht for adults. Phuket Zoo has mini-vans that will pick you up at your hotel for the same price, but you will only have 4 hours before going back to the hotel. It can be too short time if you want to see everything including shows and relaxing at a restaurant.

Phuket Zoo has a bad reputation for poor living conditions for the animals
