NAI THON BEACH
|
Nai Thon is one of the most deserted beaches on the west coast of Phuket. Not many tourists set their foot on this beach.
Nai Thon is Patong Beach 15 years ago after what I have been told.
The pace of development at Nai Thon are much slower than at the beaches further south.
In comparison with Patong it looks like an almost deserted beach. The sea is crystal clear, the sand is soft and will make a squeaky sound while you walk.
Sunbed cost 80 baht and at last visit they where very kind and gave us one sunbed for free.
The beach is lined with casuarina trees and mostly one row of sunbeds in high season. In low season the beach is deserted.
Nai Thon is a very quiet place with little more to do than relax, swim and eat. Or you could try scuba diving. The 5 Star ITC Master Dive Center Aqua Divers Nai Thon Dive Resort is located directly on the beach, less than 50m (150 ft) away from the waterline.
There is only one street in Nai Thon, the beach road where Naithonburi Beach Resort, the only larger resort, is located. The road has very little traffic in high season. When one is used to the Bangkok-style traffic in Patong, coming up here is like another world.
The world is going forward. Now an ATM has been installed at Naithon Mart.
Nai Thon don't look like the cheapest place in Phuket. I doubt there are any room for under 1,000 Baht a night in high season.
Next to Naithonburi Beach Resort, Pearl Of Naithon luxury apartments start from 13.5 million to 33 million Baht.
There are several restaurants along the beach road. The small Coconut Tree restaurant has excellent Thai food after what many people say on internet. Another restaurant is Pinocchio Pizzeria. Click here for their menu.
If you should get bored of watching water buffalos, then the famous nightlife and shopping in Patong is a 40 minutes drive to the south.
