LONG BEACH
|
A very nice beach with snow-white, powdery sand, crystal clear sea and offers a view of Phi Phi Ley in the distance and the spectacular cliffs at Ton Sai Bay.
Long Beach is a lovely place to stay in the day when the sun shine, but I find it too quiet after dark. Fortunately are Phi Phi Don Village not far away with longtail boat taxi (100 baht) or why not walk?
Walking involves a steep jungle trail and then walking along beaches and climbing over rocks. Try to go at low tide and before dark. It should take around 30 minutes.
Best snorkeling along the beach at both ends where the are a few corals, but not that much. Else almost nothing. Much better snorkeling at the little rocky islet Hin Phae in swimming distance from Long Beach. Here is a large coral reef that offer some of the best snorkeling in Phi Phi Islands.
At Hin Phae you can swim with the harmless blacktip reef sharks in shallow water in the morning and afternoon. It is a fantastic experience to swim so close to real sharks and for some maybe a little bit scary.
Long Beach has accommodation right on the beach, mostly bungalows, from very basic to good standard. Some places to stay: Paradise Pearl Bungalows, Paradise Resort, Longbeach Resort, Phi Phi Hill Resort, Phi Phi The Beach Resort
If there's one thing I hate about Long Beach, it's all the longtail boats lining the beach or going back and forth. This is a really big problem that luckily we don't have in Phuket.
