Bangkok Post: The government has ordered the Nation Multimedia Group to cease its radio programmes starting today.
Phuket Gazette: Thai police have today ordered The Economist magazine to take its controversial Thailand survey off its website.
Phuket Gazette: U.S. Senator Jesse Helms on Monday slammed the Thai government's move to expel two reporters, warning that their deportation could cause Washington to rethink its aid to Thailand.
Phuket Gazette: Media wars reveal PM in distress.
A warning for first timers in Thailand, never give your girl for the night a chance to steal your money. If you are unlucky she can destroy your vacation, after all you don't know her so be careful.
It's only a advice, don't forget to have fun! That is why people are
coming to Patong, to have fun in Soi Katoey or if you prefer soi clothes
since Soi Katoey breasts are only allowed on the beach now.
Where are everybody going after Shark Club closed? Yes, we all know the answer: BANANA and the disco must be in heaven now.
Two - three years a go they was number one but Shark Club after a difficult start got a reputation all over the world as the place to have fun in Phuket, Banana was now number two and they couldn't compete with Shark Club.
Of course they don't have to worry about Shark any more, they are number one once again but Banana can never be Shark Club and it looks like they don't want.
Entrance fee are now 200 baht up from 100, it makes them the most expensive place in Phuket.
Are Banana worth it? I don't think so, over crowded, no freelancers (why should they pay 200 baht when Tiger is free?) but you don't have so many other places to go when your Thai girl want to have some fun before going to your room.
I hope nobody are going to Patong because of Go-Go bars, they are a good place to meet sexy girls but they are not like Bangkok.
Before Thaksin I loved go to Bangkok and visit Go-Go bars and when I
come back to Phuket I was always disappointed with Patong, only exception
was a show at Flash A Go-Go with a Swedish girl that was here on vacation,
it was the best show I have ever seen in Thailand.
Only soi in Bangla Road that have people all night is Soi Breast but of course the name now is Soi Clothes.

FAQ Nightlife Patong:
Q: Why do Thai girls love Japanese men?
A: The girls know Japanese are stupid, they always pay too much.
Q: Why do Thai men love Japanese girls?
A: I don't know.
Q: Why are Soi Katoey so popular with families?
A: They hope to see men with big breasts but that will never happen with this government.
Q: Why are Patong much more quiet in the day than night?
A: Because Karon, Kata and Kamala is too boring after sunset so people go to Patong for some fun.
Q: Why are Patong more quiet this year?
A: Because this government have worked hard in one year now to scare tourists away from Patong.
Everybody knows there are only one reason to go to Patong and it's not for the sun and beach.
I have said it before, Thai girls have a perfect memory, if you stop
for a drink in a bar they will remember you for the rest of their life.
It's always fun when a Thai girl that you only talked to for 5 minutes
in a bar stop you in the street one week later and ask how are you?
(My boyfriend in Europe forgot to send me money last month, maybe you
can visit me tomorrow and help me with my English)
Thai girls are the best girls in the world, they take care of you and have a beautiful smile, there are not without reason Thailand is The Land Of Smiles.

From Phuket Gazette:
BANGKOK (AFP): The latest edition of the Economist magazine is likely to be banned in Thailand over an article that referred to the monarchy, police said yesterday.
“It’s highly likely that the authorities will impose a ban on the sale or distribution of the magazine here,” a Special Branch police source said.
A police review found that a 14-page survey of Thailand in the latest issue contained an item on Thailand’s “highest institution” that was “aggressive and inappropriate”, he said.
Go to Economist.com to read the whole story. The government can bann the paper but not stop people read it on internet.
Safari the most exotic disco in Phuket located outside Patong on the way to Karon are not so popular any more, WHY? After Shark club was closed I find it little bit strange that it's not full of dancing people, maybe people loved Shark Club because of the girls not for dancing?
Anyway this is a very good place for young couples that love to dance and the interior (jungle theme) is very different from Banana.
Thai people still love Safari but they never mix with farangs so you will never see them if you don't know where to look.
FAQ Thailand:
Q: Where do Thais go for vacation?
A: Patong, Thais love to see farangs, like we love to see monkeys
in the zoo back home. Expect that they will want to take a picture together
with you so they can prove when they go home that they talked to a farang!

I was so stupid to drink Singha beer on the beach, after that I
was sick in many hours. But I am very happy to finish toady's text only
10 minutes before I go out to party. Only reason I cared to write when
I was sick is because of the two people that read this page several
times every week. Thank You for reading!
Today's
top story
In a recent survey of 1.302 people, Abac found Mr Thaksin's popularity had dropped to 99,9% from the 100% recorded one month earlier.
The poll also found that 1.7% of the respondents felt that the government was plagued by conflicts of interest, while 0.3% felt that the government had not been transparent in a recent public share-offering. Furthermore, 5.0% of the polled respondents said that the defence minister needed to improve his public image.
(The numbers has been changed to please Thailand's VIPs.)
Yes, there are no question about it, we are getting closer and closer to low season. Some times Bangla Road are almost empty but still many people are checking out Patongs famous "nightlife".
If you like to dance and have given up Banana as they have too many people, why not try the small bar in Soi Sunset opposite Tai Pan with live music every night. Never many people here, so there are lots of room for dancing but drinks cost 100 baht. I never understand why bars with no people have expensive drinks.
27.February.2002
From Bangkok Post: "We have our own sovereignty. We do not need to explain it to anyone," Mr Thaksin said. His comments came as the US called on Thailand to protect press freedom.
Last day every bar was closed, not what I expected. After what I remember from last year some bars would open late in the evening but we have a new government that is much more restrict on everything.
My girl wanted us to visit a temple in Patong but I thought that would be very boring, instead we walked to Bangla Road and of course it was packed with tourists and Thai girls, tourists don't like to stay in a hotel room when they are on vacation.
It looked like restaurants and shops had a good evening, good for them but today everything will be back to normal.
After I saw the picture in Bangkok Post I wished that we visit a temple instead, now I must wait one year.
Shark staff is still protesting every night, please never give up, Shark Club is Patong.
26.February.2002
Today Patong was a ghost city, everyone had gone to Chalong. And the bars was closed, maybe they will open late this evening but i am not sure.

Maka Bucha Day Photo: Bangkok Post
This is a sacred day (Maka Bucha Day), mistreatment of animals should be avoided today, from Phuket Gazette.
What is better after a perfect night then a perfect day on the beach with clear blue sky, warm crystal clear water, hot sun 99F and sexy girls on the beach, I love Patong.
In Thailand it's against thai moral for young people to see a women's breast but it's okay to see people lose body parts on tv.
And now over to the biggest story from Thailand in newspapers around the world. I am not used to read anything from Thailand but today there was a story about press freedom.

WHERE IS YOUR GIRLFRIEND???
First question bar girls ask me, before I have time to order a drink.
Every bar girl has a perfect memory, it must be because they have learned to memorize everything in school since they was a little girl, but I don't understand how that can help them in life. Haven't they heard about computers?
Tai Pain is upgraded to one of the best places to party, people have fun in Tai Pan. It's more fun in Tai Pan then everywhere else. It's only missing a good dance floor.
This text is written after having fun.
In Thailand people complain about love scenes on tv, in Sweden tv are showing body painted girls after people complain the girls was wearing a bikini.
We live in a strange world.
25.February.2002
Nightlife in Patong has been downgraded from party all night with
sexy Thai girls to now rated lower then small city's in one of the coldest
countries in Europe. There is only one thing that prevent it from sliding
all the way to the bottom and that is you are guaranteed to meet a girl
and you can go out every day.
Before the girls loved to have fun, but now try to dance with a Thai girl, after two minutes she will ask if you have a girlfriend, if yes she leave you on the spot. This year it's all about business not both business and fun, drinking beer and watching football on tv.
I now many will disagree with me, especially if this is your first time in Patong then I am sure you will love Patong but I have seen how everything changed over the night, one day closing time was 05.00 AM and next day it was 02.00 AM. And that was only the beginning, then it slowly got worse and worse.
Did you know? Old people over 40 years have more fun everywhere in Europe then in Patong at the moment. I remember last year when a man over 80 year old was dancing with a young girl, he had more fun that evening then I have seen last two months in Patong.
This text is written after a fight with my girl.
23.February.2002
Tuesday is a sacred day in Thailand, expect many bars to be closed and drinking in public places will not be allowed. There will also be difficult to buy alcohol in shops after noon but I think some bars will open in the evening. Will be back with more info after checking around.
There will be some changes at Soi Gonzo, that all I know at the moment. Remember having fun at Soi Easy before it was rebuild, don't hope the same thing will happen to Soi Gonzo.
22.February.2002
Have given up dancing, will instead frequent go-go and beer bars while I wait for Shark Club to reopen.
Had lots of fun last night together with my girlfriend but don't do like me and take your girl to a go-go bar.
Why? This story from Flash should say it all: First minutes I sat alone at the stage where the girls are dancing while my girl had a urgent visit in the nearby room.
- Under the campaign against fun the girls have to dress up but it don't stop the girls from being very sexy (there are more semi naked Thai girls on the beach then in a go-go bar) -
The girls thought I was alone and began to dance with their small butts almost touching my face. I was in heaven but how long was Adam in paradise? Yes, as soon she was back from the toilet the fun was over.
They understood that I was a bad investment and jumped to the other end of the stage. Instead a fat girl took their place, so it was time to give my girl some attention before something happened to my eyes, like going blind.
The show was over, next stop was PlaySchool my second favorite go-go.
I like PlaySchool much better then Hard Rock but not so many people, my girl likes it too, the only go-go in Thailand she don't hate.
Smokin Joe's Roadhouse had more girls this time but it's only a shadow of itself. The girls at Rock Hard didn't look so good as last year, but girls in bars change all the time.
Soi Katoey was as always very popular, had a good time there too, but katoeys was more fun last year with much more action. It's the same all over Patong, there was much more action last year but Patong is still a good place to have fun.
Tiger was closed because of problem with the sound system, it will open again today. Galaxy in Soi Sunset was closed last two days I checked, rest of the soi looked very quiet while one bar had a 'for sale' sign, didn't check Pasha since that mean a "long walk".
Tai Pan is checking Thai girls id card and that is a good thing, don't want risking going with underage girls.
It looks like we are beginning to see the end of high season, the first sign is always that there are many empty beach chairs at the northern end of Patong Beach. Too early to have any impact on Bangla Road.
21.February.2002
Today Sweden is mooring after losing in ice hockey against Belarus.
We welcome Prime Minister Thaksin to Patong, his visit will last one hour. He will be briefed about tourism problems, followed by walkabout.
Lucky for us his visit will take place in the afternoon long before the action start.
From The Governor's Letter in Phuket Gazette:
"There are four types of nightspot licenses, but only one of them allows dancing. People who wish to dance should go to places that have the correct license. There are three of this in Patong.
People should not dance in the other nightspots because it is against the law."
There you have it, be careful were you are dancing. No one wants to break the law, right?
It's easier to find a girl to go home with then a good place for dancing. A girl takes only 5 seconds, a pretty girl one minute but a good place to dance that is not packed with people after midnight is almost impossible.
When we are talking about dancing, Kevin was kicked out of Thailand on Friday and is not allowed back in to the country. I was very sad to hear that but today Phuket Gazette had a story about Shark Club staff that is still protesting every night, the leader told the paper that he think Shark Club would eventually reopen and hoped that Kevin would return to run the club.
Again from Phuket Gazette: Kevin was kicked out after authorities decided his activities on the island were in conflict with Thai morals.
I think most activities by tourists in Patong is against Thai moral.
Like not wearing a T-shirt in the streets and restaurants, the girls
being almost naked on the beach, kissing and holding hands in public
and so on.
But then Patong is not in Thailand but in Europe as my girlfriend son told me when he was visiting us from his school break in Bangkok.
20.February.2002
As always a perfect day on the beach, if you live in a cold country I hope you envy me.
I'm little bit tired about complaining all the time. Those of you that read the newspapers will know lots have happened last days but I will write about that tomorrow.
Every night most of the sois around Bangla Road is packed with people. Tiger, Tai Pan, Banana and VIP as the larger bars and disco are also packed.
I think there are more Thai girls then farang in the bars and last night
one bar girl almost destroyed my T-shirt while she tried to get me inside
the bar a few minutes before closing time.
Go with girls or get a body massage is not a problem in Patong
Only problem is to find a place where you can dance without breaking the law.
Concert by country music star Got Jakraphan was delayed several hours last night. Read more at Phuket Gazette.
19.February.2002
Looks like US Navy have leaved Patong for this time, the ship was gone from Patong Bay this morning.
There will be held a concert this evening by country music star Got Jakraphan at the food market nearby Shark Club. I think tickets will cost 100 baht.
19.February.2002
Patong is crazy at the moment. After staying at quiet Phi Phi I
wanted to check out Patong and see how much it had changed the last
days.
MR. INTERIOR MINISTER OPEN SHARK CLUB OR SEND US NAVY HOME.
Visited Banana one hour before closing time, for first time I saw lots
of Thai girls, it must be because of US Navy like Banana or maybe they
get in for free?
It was difficult to breath, air was very thin, don't Banana care about how many they allow inside?
With so many people there had to be a fight and especially since many was very drunk. Only had to wait 10 minutes before a big fight and even worse Banana tried to close the doors so nobody could get outside.
Before early closing time I didn't see many fights, but now people fight
all the time.
With Shark Club closed and US Navy in town Banana is a crazy place.
When walking in Bangla Road I was stopped by a Thai man that wanted
me to go to a go-go bar. That is normal but what is not normal is that
he said it was free entry and only 300 baht for a beer.
That is a crazy price. When I told him that and walked away I think
he shouted 90 baht for a beer. I am not sure but it doesn't matter,
are there so few customers in go-go bars that they have to lure tourists
inside?
Think it's time to check out go-go bars again, 300 baht for a beer is
so crazy that I didn't believed my eyes or is it because the US Navy
are in town?
18.February.2002
Just back from paradise: Greater Phuket, Phi Phi Islands.
Wish I could stay at Phi Phi forever, it's sooooooooo beautiful, but
too expensive for me, the price spiral is going only one way and that
is up. Next month will many Muslim longtail boat owners go home for New Year,
that mean only one thing: more costly boat trips.
Good to see young people again with more action on the dance floor in Phi Phi then Patong. Phi Phi is the island for young people while Patong is for family's and people over 30 year.
I loved Reggae Bar, with very good dance music and it was not packed
unlike Banana and Tai Pan where it's impossible to move around, but
I missed Thai girls.
Phi Phi Don has a new tourist attraction, a 7-Eleven shop next to tourist police.
You can still have fun, but Patong is not the same as before crackdown on fun. And it's look getting much worse next 12 months, if that happen I don't know if it's worth working every day with only a few hours sleep so I can go to Thailand and have some fun and I think it's ridiculous that Patong as a mayor tourist town don't have a large disco.
What's happening in Thailand?
On Valetine's day no under 18s will be allowed on the streets after 10pm, police said.
In Siam square and on public buses they found high school students in uniform caressing each other in the public. The deputy education minister was stunned and didn't know how to react.
The Nation yesterday obtained a February 6 order issued by Lumpini police to operators of all entertainment venues in the Lumpini area. Apart from basic instructions regarding strictly adhering to the legal closing time and bans on weapons as well as underage customers, it stated that any woman arriving at an entertainment establishment alone must not be allowed to enter the place.
Twenty five provinces want cabinet's help in stopping new nightspots from opening. The Interior Ministry is prepared to issue a royal decree to give them their way.
Police proposals to restrict people's right to assemble peacefully in public places have been slammed as dictorial and a step back into the past.
Students could help traffic police hand out speeding tickets and making arrests under a proposal before the goverment.
And I hate UBC for all the time destroying good movies. Never seen so much censure before, if the director see what Thailand do to his movie I think he will ban Thailand from showing it.
15.February.2002

From Bangkok Post:A 14-year old Mathayom 3 student, identified only as Kittian, cried "freedom".
Adults should let youngsters "have their day", he said. "Can we just be free for only one day? Shouldn't we be allowed to have a date, to celebrate Valentine's Day with the person we love?"
Kittinan said the authorities went too far in banning touching and holding hands.
Couples in Thailand can't holding hands on Valentine's day? Oh my God, you joke me now?? This most be the biggest joke in history. If I didn't read it in Bangkok Post I would not believe it.
Krit Sukthavorn, 16, said he favored firm control and even wanted authorities to force teenagers to go directly home after school and bar them from going out at night.
See everyone in Phi Phi tomorrow, still a paradise.
Also heard some rumors about women can't go out alone in entertainment
places , but that I don't believe.
14.February.2002
After US Navy arrived there are too many people in Patong, The
Interior Minister must open up Shark Club very fast or else we will
have a accident, I have never seen so many people at Banana before.
As far as I know US Navy behaved very good last night, maybe they was bored?
Japanese girls had fun at Banana, hope they was lucky since there where many from US Navy in civil.
I was wrong about you can't dance at Tiger, you can, but you must dance around the chairs since there are no dance floor as far as I could see. Does these mean they have license to operate as a disco?
Had a good time last night, looks like many others had fun too. It was packed with people everywhere.
13.February.2002
